Title: Reference Design for FMC 112
Post by: nmr_84 on November 07, 2013, 07:25 AM
Hello,

I have purchased the FMC112 card from Avnet and looking for the reference design associated with Xilinx virtex-6 based ML605 Board.

The Documents provided with BSP of FMC112 does not have the manual for the same.

Please provide the reference design with proper manual for Data transfer techniques with FPGA, parameters settings and provision to check results.

Thanks & Regards
Murthy

Dear Sir,

In order to help you further I need the FMC board serial number. You can check http://www.4dsp.com/FMC112.php (http://www.4dsp.com/FMC112.php), according to the tables a reference design is available for ML605.

There are NO difference between ML605 or VC707 as typically our complete flow (StellarIP and the software) is generic. My point here is that documentation and technical details are same. We do not provide specific documents on how to transfer data to an FPGA as this is beyond the scope of a product; These are elementary theory discussed with FPGA FAE or during lectures in University.

You can register your product from http://www.4dsp.com/fmc/bsp, you will get a license file as well as download a BSP containing all the elements you need. The reference firmware/software configures the complete chipset during runtime, you will be able to experiment with settings as much as you want without spending firmware recompilation times.

Best Regards,
Arnaud

Hello Arnaud,

Thanks for Immediate response.

I can see the reference bit file for FMC112 provided in the Installation folder of Board support Package, But there is no document/Provision how to check the Results.

when customer purchase products from www.4dsp.com, how you will be justifying that your board will be working properly (Any demo design, verifying the results)?

Atleast from where should I get the reference design showing in http://www.4dsp.com/FMC112.php (http://www.4dsp.com/FMC112.php) table provided on the site? Do you mean reference design is bit file only?

Thanks & Regards
Murthy

Dear Murthy,

I haven't received the serial number from you. I am helping you again but please provide me with the actual FMC112 serial number..

Please look at this part from my previous post about where to get the installer and is the ref design is only a bit file:

There is a 4FM Getting Started Guide covering how to run the reference design. A software application (delivered precompiled and as source code, same as the firmware) configures the chipset and save data buffers on the hard disk. This buffers can then be analyzed. Location of software/firmware/documentation is also covered by the same user manual. To give you some pointers:

- Firmware source code is extracted under C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\Common\Firmware\Extracted
- Software source code is installed under C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\FMC Board Support Package\Refs\Software
- Firmware documentation is available in doc folders in the firmware source code.
- Software documentation is available in the software project in doxygen format.
- Hardware documentation is available under C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\FMC Board Support Package\Documentation
- Other documentation is available under C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\4FM Core Development Kit\Documentation
