Title: Support for FMC30RF and KC705
Post by: rvincentzio on January 16, 2013, 07:38 PM
I purchased an FMC30RF, downloaded the 4FM.SDK and the license and installed the 4FM GUI Control Application. But the Getting Started guide says nothing of the FMC30RF. As well no mention of the KC705. The FMC30RF user guide has only a list of signals and references to the TI chips. So how do I get started?

Dear Sir,
It is true that the Getting Started Guide does not mention much about FMC30RF or KC705. However everything is generic, so it does not matter much. Note that we are working on updating the documentation.
The getting started guide has a evaluation FMC A/D products on ML605. The same applies for KC705 and FMC30RF:
- The bit file for KC705 - FMC30RF will be found in the same area as other firmware : C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\Common\Firmware\Recovery (C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\Common\Firmware\Recovery\227_kc705_fmc30rf)
- The KC705 - FMC30RF firmware source will be extracted (by the installer) in the same area as other firmware : C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\Common\Firmware\Extracted (C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\Common\Firmware\Extracted\227_kc705_fmc30rf)
- The FMC30RF software application source code is installed as for other FMC software under C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\FMC Board Support Package\Refs\Software (C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\FMC Board Support Package\Refs\Software\FMC30RF). Note that the software documentation is found there, in a doxygen format.
- The FMC30RF user manual is found as for other FMC product under C:\Program Files (x86)\4dsp\FMC Board Support Package\Documentation.
All these paths are same accross products/carriers so you can safely rely on the information found in the getting started guide.
Some extra information not part of the documentation can be found on this forum topic, it describes what the reference design does : http://www.4dsp.com/forum/index.php/topic,1629.0.html (http://www.4dsp.com/forum/index.php/topic,1629.0.html)
Best Regards,
Arnaud

Hi Arnoud

I could not find the files you mentioned.

In my C:\Program Files\4dsp\Common\Firmware\Extracted there is only one subdir: 202_ml605_fmc30rf, there is no 227_kc705_fmc30rf.

In the C:\Program Files\4dsp\Common\Firmware\Recovery there is no 227_kc705_fmc30rf.

I found the FMC30RF subdir in the C:\Program Files\4dsp\FMC Board Support Package\Refs\Software.

Hello Vincent,

If you had a FMC30RF BSP previously installed, you will need to UNINSTALL and then reinstall the BSP, the update mechanism in installshield is not working fine.

According to the what's new list, the KC705-FMC30RF firmware was added on 20 December 2012.

If reinstalling the BSP from scratch does not work, can you please email your license file to support@4dsp.com. Don't post it here, this area of the forum is public!

Best Regards,
Arnaud
