Title: FMC150 Operating Temperature
Post by: rdisanto on March 14, 2012, 02:25 PM
Hello,

I'm concerned by the (excessive?) heat being generated by components on the FMC150.  When using the DAC in the low MHz range the surface of the DAC chip (and others on the board) becomes too hot to touch and is almost certainly in excess 70 degrees C.  I was wondering  if it would be advisable to modify the FMC150 by adding a heat sync, fan, etc.  or implement some other form of cooling.

Thank you,
Rocco

Hello,

The FMC150 is not fitted by default with fans or heatsinks because it would not comply to the mechanical requirements of VITA57.1.

As a standalone unit with the ML605 we advise to have a table fan blowing air across the FMC150 at all times.

Thanks
