Title: Question regarding external sampling clock
Post by: sron_jt on August 16, 2013, 09:13 AM
Hello,

We would like to use a external 2GHz sampling clock for the FMC230, is it possible to use a LVPECL level type clock for this purpose?
The user manual states that LVTTL levels are supported, but what about a LVPECL signal with for example a 780mV voltage swing.
Will this, in combination with its common mode voltage of about 2V, be enough?

Thanks!

The input signal is converted to ac coupled differential through the single-ended to differential transformer circuit. The input sensitivity of the clock tree device is 150mV. Thus, 780mV swing LVPECL is enough.

Thanks,
