AD484 · Quad 14-bit, 125MSPS waveform digitizer

The AD484 is a the centerpiece of multi-channel data recorder systems. Available in the PMC form factor the AD484 features four high-performance 14-bit analogue-to-digital data converters and 4 optical transceivers for real time data storage.

All channels are perfectly synchronized using the internal clock distribution integrated circuit. The AD9510 device emphases low jitter and phase noise to maximize the converters performances. It is also possible to tune the delays between the channels thanks to the delay adjust functions.

Multiple AD484 data acquisition and processing systems can be cascaded and synchronized amongst them using the external clock I/O reference signals.

The AD484 high-speed data converters are typically used in discriminating target detection and recognition subsystems for military and aerospace applications. The main digital signal algorithms are processed in real time by the Virtex-4 SX55 FPGA. The computation results are then transferred via four optical transceiver channels using the serial front panel data port. The sFPDP interface is implemented in the Xilinx Virtex-4 FX60 FPGA.

Streaming-to-disk · Real time data recording

4DSP has integrated a multi-channel recording solution for demanding data acquisition and instrumentation applications which require reliability, security and long duration recording to disk.

The system is composed of the AD484, quad-channel digitizer PMC-X board associated to the Conduant StreamStor™ solution. The Conduant system comprises the Amazon SATA disk controller card and StreamStor sFPDP (Serial Front Panel Data Port) mezzanine board. This system is designed for long distance, high-speed, data capture from Serial FPDP (or other optical fiber data protocols).

This full data acquisition, FPGA-based processing and recording system offers real time data input performance from the four independent optical fiber interface ports. It is possible to have up to four independent optical transceivers for simultaneous data I/Os available on each port. The data communication over sFPDP sustains a rate of 230MBytes/s per optical link. It is the highest speed available for defense and instrumentation applications.

This flexible solution supports from 2 to 16 SATA disk drives for terabytes of reliable recording capacity.

This system solution is available in Windows, Linux or VxWorks environments. It is mainly used in scientific research, military, aerospace and instrumentation market segments.

Applications: digital signal processing, high-speed data recording, radar, medical imaging, telemetry, satellite download and high-resolution video.
