Software Defined Radio is a collection of hardware and software technologies that enable reconfigurable system architectures. SDR provides an efficient and comparatively inexpensive solution to the challenge of building multi-mode, multi-band, multi-functional wireless devices that can be adapted, updated, or enhanced by using software upgrades. As such, SDR can be considered an enabling technology that is applicable across a wide range of areas within the wireless industry. An SDR-enabled radio device is one in which the operating parameters - power, modulation and frequency - can be controlled and modified via software (residing within, or downloaded into, the device) without changing hardware components.
SDR development platforms and systems offered by 4DSP are based on FPGA technology in order to offer the flexibility and performance required for controlling and processing multi-band signals.
