BLAST = Board Level Application Scalable Technology
One more acronym for the technical glossary...
But, what does a BLAST do? Not much on its own. A BLAST is no more than a small form factor component with a specific feature. However, with system design being increasingly modular BLASTs help by adding a host of different functionalities to programmable platforms. A BLAST can be high speed SRAM, large density SDRAM, non-volatile memory, video codec, etc... It can be pretty much what you want it to be. The common denominator of all BLASTs is the electrical interface, high speed signaling and the small footprint (21x25mm 160-balls BGA).
BLAST is not just a technology for prototyping, its sound mechanical and electrical interfaces make it a choice of reference for ruggedized applications where flexibility meets great performance.
So when is your next project scheduled to BLAST off?
